3rd Expedition, Cycling to K2 basecamp
Samar Khan Biked K2 Base Camp in July 2021
Samar khan biked till K2 base camp in July 2021, and became the 1st Pakistani doing so. She has many first times under her name like, first woman of cycling on 3rd largest glaciers, Biafo(Karakoram range) and cycling on the roof of Africa, Kilimanjaro being the 1st Pakistani and also on Godwin Austen glaciers (on the foothill of majestic K2).
he ultimate Karakoram glacier trek to the base camp of the world’s second-highest mountain, K2 8 (611 meters). The exceptional K2 Base Camp trek provides a taste of Pakistan’s native culture and a visit to the outstanding Concordia, Baltoro and Godwin-Austen Glaciers and Broad Peak base camp in the Karakoram mountains.
Adventure sports is the identity of Samar Khan or you can say Samar Khan is the face of adventure sports in Pakistan, who herself hails from Hindukush mountains in northern Pakistan (Dir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa).
Like her previous mountain biking expeditions, this too executed out of her wildest imagination i.e, whether cycling to the K2 basecamp is possible or not; as we see many athletes and mountain bikers cycling towards Everest basecamp.
It was a 16 days expedition and 90 kilometers journey, with strenuous climbs, trek, river-crossings and jumping over deadly crevasses. She wanted to highlight the condition of melting glaciers in northern Pakistan, which is home to world largest glacial system. The rising heat and climate change effects were the main points she highlighted by her mountain biking journey (Meeting Choghori)
