Samar Camp 28th July, 2020

Samar Camp is an action sports initiative which empowers youth through sports trainings, sports business ideas and career counselling around different sports fields.

Because sports have the power to unite different ethnicities, different races and backgrounds under one umbrella and entertain the world at the same time.

It has conducted several training camps in mountain biking, snowboarding and mountaineering. It’s one of the few registered platforms which are introducing adventure sports in Pakistan.

ESPNW Global Sports Mentoring Program

Born in the town of Khas Dir, Samar did not have much exposure to sport or physical activity growing up.
Like many young Pakistani women, she found herself in an abusive relationship, social restrictions, conservative environment and working a job in a call center to make ends meet. That is when she learned about a paragliding training course being offered by the Army.

Completing her paragliding certification opened Samar’s eyes to a different world. She divorced her husband and began her pursuit of empowerment for both herself and other women around Pakistan.

K2 BASE CAMP IN JULY 2021

Samar khan biked till K2 base camp in July 2021, and became the 1st Pakistani doing so.

She has many first times under her name like, first woman of cycling on 3rd largest glaciers, Biafo(Karakoram range) and cycling on the roof of Africa, Kilimanjaro being the 1st Pakistani and also on Godwin Austen glaciers (on the foothill of majestic K2). he ultimate Karakoram glacier trek to the base camp of the world’s second-highest mountain, K2 8 (611 meters). The exceptional K2 Base Camp trek provides a taste of Pakistan’s native culture and a visit to the outstanding Concordia, Baltoro and Godwin-Austen Glaciers and Broad Peak base camp in the Karakoram mountains.

CYCLING ON THE ROOF OF AFRICA, KILIMANJARO

Samar Khan became the 1st Pakistani to have cycled up on the roof of Africa, Kilimanjaro in Dec 2017. Her expedition was sponsored by ISPR (Pakistan Army). Mount Kilimanjaro is a dormant volcano in Tanzania. It has three volcanic cones: Kibo, Mawenzi, and Shira.

It is the highest mountain in Africa and the highest single free-standing mountain above sea level in the world: 5,895 metres (19,341 ft) above sea level and about 4,900 metres (16,100 ft) above its plateau base. Samar Khan Article About Kilimanjaro Cycling

CYCLING ON BIAFO GLACIER

Samar Khan became the 1st woman to have biked on 3rd largest non-polar glaciers, Biafo in Karakoram range in Aug 2016. The Biafo Glacier (Urdu: بیافو گلیشیر) is a 67 km (42 mi)-long glacier situated in the Karakoram mountain range in Shigar district, Gilgit−Baltistan, Pakistan. The Biafo Glacier is the world’s third longest glacier outside the polar regions, second only to the 70 km (43 mi) Siachen Glacier, India and Tajikistan’s 77 km (48 mi) long Fedchenko Glacier. It took Samar 15 days to paddle till Shigar(Skardu), then she teamed up with the local climbers who knew the glacier well. After the 2nd Campsite, Namla, Samar found glacier to be flat enough to start biking until she reaches 4500m+ elevation towards the Snow-Lake.
